The relationship between House and Cuddy is, to say the least, incredibly complicated and rife with tension. So many people have accused Cuddy of sleeping with House that even House has jokingly asked if there is anything to the rumor. Dr. Cuddy prides herself at being the strong, independent woman in charge. Later, in The Tyrant, House came back to the hospital when he learned that the pain in his leg goes away when he works on a medical case. Cuddy allowed House to come back, but not to his old position right away since his medical license would take a few weeks to be reinstated. Cuddy scores a major coup for the hospital when she lands a major donor for the hospital, Edward Vogler, who pledges $100,000,000 on the condition he be made chairman of the Board of Directors. Cuddy is more than happy to oblige, but it soon turns out this will not be a picnic. Cuddy scrambles to save House and Vogler finally agrees to give him a chance - fire one of his fellows to save money.
He accuses her of spending too much time dealing with House and says he only took Chase on as a favor to her. She asks why, if he didn't want Chase in the first place, why he's worried about losing him. Edelstein has often spoken fondly of her experiences on the show and fellow cast and crew, especially her friendship and strong working relationship with Laurie.
